A very interesting promotional performance that Mark Knopfler did
to promote his new album Down the road wherever. Mark brought Guy
Fletcher (piano), Robbie McIntosh (guitar) and Danny Cummings (percussion) with
him to play a couple tracks live in the piano room. The first song is a
wonderful stripped down version of Romeo and Juliet, followed by another
stripped down version of the first single Good on you son. In between,
Mark is interviewed by radio host Ken Bruce. Tradition of all performers in the
piano room (named after a piano that is in the room, donated by Elton John), is
that they also play a cover of another musician. Mark choose to play The
boxer by Paul Simon. In Mark's own words: "Because it is Paul Simon's
last go around, I just wanted to try to mark it, just says thanks for all the
music over the years."  Total playing time is about 25
minutes. Recorded directly from BBC Radio 2 to hard disk. Very good sound quality.
